According to a study conducted in 1997, 42 percent of Americans used one or more methods of treatment that are not taught in medical schools and are not practiced in American hospitals. Compared with 1990 this figure rose 8 percent. Although the vast majority of respondents (95%) tried to solve their health problems through traditional medicine, only less than 40% decided to tell their doctors about alternative treatment. It can be concluded that with alternative medicine at us that something is wrong.
More than half of Americans are paying for their treatment entirely on their own. In 1997, for an alternative treatment were spent 27 billion dollars – almost as much as traditional medical services.
